Re: Leica

I think everyone is fascinated at seeing how they look to others.
Ecclesiastes 1: "The words of the Preacher"
2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher,
vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
....
16 There is no remembrance of former things;
neither shall there be any remembrance of
things that are to come with those that
shall come after.

Re: Leica

I did a slide show on a computer for our local paddling club, photos
from over the year of paddling events. This was just going to run where
people could go over to the monitor and view as they wish, the show
repeating and running all night long. I put in close to 300 photos
cycling at 3 seconds a slide, thinking no now would likely watch all
300 photos I was shocked when a huge crowed not only watch the whole
set but stood there and watch them all go by several times. Next year
I will put in far more photos.
What makes a slide show interesting to people is if it directly relates
to them.

Re: Leica

I definitely stopped that when I lost to will to live looking at _my own_
holiday photos!

I find 3 seconds to be about right with a 'stop the show'
button if I want to look longer.
Slide shows aren't like viewing photos on the wall
where someone may look for 10-15 seconds: to get one
photo on the wall I shoot a large number of rolls
of film with an edit ratio of 1:100+; Slide shows
have an edit ratio of 1:2/1:3 - most of the show
is background material for the (hopefully) one
shot worth looking at.
There are the people, many of them relatives or
neighbors, who show every slide they took
along with unedited home movies and _all_ the
pictures from the drugstore - two of each no less.
No wonder people run when you say "Would you like
to see...".
To get people to look at the show I once threw a
get-together with the slide projector running
unattended in a bedroom that is passed by on the
way to the loo.

Re: Leica

You might mention that it works as a slide show with 25-second delay.
Dismissed.
