Re: What to do now? If the mandates are part of the problem, why not eliminate them? We might get more participation if the exercise was about "What have you been shooting lately?" Sort of a "RPE355 Photo of the Week" without the competitive aspect normally associated with POTW contests. There could still be suggested subjects, of course, but it wouldn't be mandatory to follow them. Relaxing the restrictions on archived images might also help. So, for example, say the Suggested Topic (the word "Mandate" sounds too stern for some folk) was "Reflections," I might dig into the archives and submit this one: http://www.pbase.com/bret/image/28942570 This would allow everyone to show their work, both current and old stuff. Perhaps allow one submission from each contributor that fits the Suggested Topic, and one that could be anything the person chooses to submit that week ("Potpourri"). Heck, maybe I wouldn't have to make so many of my "XXXXX LOVES THE 20D!" posts. Also, the deadlines could be relaxed since there would be no need to submit by a certain date for a certain mandate. That way the current SI administrator could post the pics as they came in at his leisure. Also, the film shooters wouldn't be pressured into rushing their shots, and we all know how slow those guys move. Anyway, you asked for my 2 cents and I gave ya a whole nickel. Keep the change.
