Auto winder settings

I recently got a Gemini autowinder along with a Canon AE-1 Program. The
autowinder works on certain settings, but not on others. Wondered if
anyone could decode it for me:
There are two sliders on the device: One goes from "Off" to "A" to "M."
The other goes "5" to "15" to "30."
The autowinder works when I set it to "M," regardless of what I set the
second setting to. "A" doesn't do anything. And "M" only winds a single
shot. It doesn't reel off a number of shutter fires if I hold down the
shutter release.

You still have one of these working? A store I once worked at sold

Others are correct. M is manual, or single shot. If the camera and
the winder are working ok, the A is auto, and the numbers are the
number of consecutive exposures taken with one precess of the shutter
release. Not all cameras supported all features.

Re: Auto winder settings

No. Most likely (as in my Minolta autowinder) the number of consecutive
exposures. I.e. 5, 15, or 30 exposures in one go (keeping the exposure
button depressed).
Yes. And 'M' only allows a single exposure each time the exposure button
is depressed (with autowind).

Hello Craig.
I've never seem one of these autowinders so I'll take a guess at what the
settings mean.
5 - 15 - 30
Any chance that these set the autowinder and camera to shoot at 5, 15 or 30
min/sec intervals?
off - A - M
Wonder if "A" enables the 5-15-30 setting?
Canon's own autowinder (which they termed a power winder) would allow the
camera to shoot a series of pictures if the shutter release was held down.

Re: Auto winder settings

M most likely stands for Manual - A for automatic
that's it? They sound like shutter speeds but you should have more than
just 3 #'s
What is an autowinder?
What do you mean - you can't even take a shot? Must be broken.
AE1 - aren't they old Canon cameras? I'm not sure if older cameras
allows for the auto shooting
