Meet a typical American

"I used to work for a large IT firm doing internal support. On the
morning of 9/11/2001 I received a phone call from a manager in the
manufacturing division. I was based in NY and he was based in MN. He
demanded to know why he had not been able to access his e-mail for the
last hour and a half. I explained to him that our mail servers were
located in building #2 of the World Trade Center, which no longer
existed. He demanded to speak to my supervisor because he could not
believe our response time to correct the problem and reboot the mail
server was so slow. I pointed out that three targets on American soil
had just been attacked, two of them civilian and completely destroyed.
He still didn't get it. I pointed out that 3000 people died. He again
demanded to speak to my supervisor, screaming about our Service Level
Agreements and such. I hung up and walked out."

Re: Meet a typical American

Perhaps the implosion of the mail server caused the entire building to
collapse?
Makes about as much sense as the official explanations.

Re: Meet a typical American

Damn! Must have improved a whole heck of a lot in the last month or so
then. Used to be 110% rubbish.

Re: Meet a typical American

Hmm, thanks to the cretinous big brother, the world cup, and now Wimbledon
100% of our telly is rubbish at the moment. I'm reaching the end of the
hidden treasures on my TV HD recorder.

Re: Meet a typical American

No, I haven't seen Father Ted. Telly is one the many things I miss
about Britain. Here in America 90 percent of television is rubbish.
With respect to the othre post, I certainly don't give a feck nor the
other, either.

Re: Meet a typical American

It's an Irish euphemism for the other, and is generally acceptable where the
other isn't.
You've obviously never seen one of our funniest TV programmes, Father Ted.

Re: Meet a typical American

Except that for some reason, whatever you're using as a news reader
doesn't eliminate the sig.
Note in your reply to Frank, the double dash appears with the sig
beneath it as part of the quoted text.
In my reply and in Frank's the sig is not quoted. That's the purpose of
double dash as a "delimiter", it tells the news reader where the sig
begins so it's not part of the quoted text.

Re: Meet a typical American

Put your reply after the message you are responding to, like zo.
Put the dash dash space carriage return just above your sig, like zo:

Re: Meet a typical American

Hi Frank,
I would say both, actually. So, when I reply to a posting, where does
the sig delimiter go? Should I delete the actual quote.
