Minolta SRT 101 Question

Hi:
I have a Minolta SRT 101 with a collection of lenses, filters, etc. Does
anyone know if there is a current digital body that will accept these
lenses?
I've been looking for a wide angle digital camera and remembered the lens I
have for the Minolta and thought maybe I could get a second life out of this
equipment.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Minolta SRT 101 Question

In article <449e379e$0$9855$88260bb3@free.teranews.com>,
There are many situation where AF isn't necessary for getting a good
shot -- landscapes, macro, portraits, etc. In those situations, it just
comes down to which lens has the best glass.

Re: Minolta SRT 101 Question

Check out the Canon DSLR forums at www.dpreview.com - there was a flurry of
postings about this a short time ago. It's all a bit beyond me as I like
using AF, and disabling this expensive feature seems somewhat foreign to me.

Re: Minolta SRT 101 Question

Not really. Minolta sold the license for the lens mount to Seagull a
few years ago when they sold over the license for the X-700 and the
lens mount to them. Seagull had been producing the camera under a
license for Minolta for years. No other camera companies were
interested in Minolta's manual focus lens mount. The lenses can be used
on Seagull cameras and if they produce a digital camera, it's a
possibility they'll continue the lens mount for that camera. Many
people with the lenses are hopeful but there hasn't been any news yet.

Not a whole lot of articles remain on the SRT series, but you might be

this
If you can find an adapter, you might be able to use them in manual mode.
At the moment, quite a few people are using Zeiss Contax lenses on Canon EOS
bodies in manual mode, so you might be in luck if there is a suitable
adapter.
(My first decent SLR, an SRT101, hides in my cupboard for my
beneficiaries/descendants to find when I'm gone... and there's a few
batteries for it.)
