Check out the frog's right eye. I'm not sure if this if some byproduct of the frog's eye or if it's flare or CA from the 105VR/TC combo. http://www.geocities.com/ritaberk2006//log.htm Rita

Looks like a specular highlight.

Re: Flare or CA on the 105mm VR
Thanks. That makes a lot of sense since I have seen a few patches of blown highlights on the frog as well as the log when I chimped. I was using fill flash and I think the blown highlights are the slivers of sunlight that made it through the tree canopy. I haven't seen the purple in my other pictures and thought that I might have a slight problem developing. Rita

Re: Flare or CA on the 105mm VR
It's a small blown-out area caused by a direct spectral reflection of the flash from the eye. The color fringing is the result of the overexposed area affecting adjacent pixels. This is the same effect one sees with tree branches etc. against a bright sky. It's not CA. Colin D. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com

The purple reflection? If you have photoshop & a raw file, try the CA slider to find out, I suppose it's flare or just some purple in the frog's eye. Doesn't seem like a problem to me.
