Retrieving brushes & Patterns PS CS?

Shut down Pshop last night and got an error saying would revert back to default settings
and so my custom brushes and patterns I have just created are all gone. Is there a way to
get these back or are they gone for good?

Unless you saved them someplace they are most likely gone. Next time
Save them right after creating them.
A good place is the appropriate folders in the Presets folder. And maybe
make backup copies somewhere else.
