Autofocus of Canon EOS stopped working

Hi....
my canon eos 88 (eos 3000) has stopped working on the AutoFocus. when
selected to autofocus it moves the lens much slower than it did earlier
and also does not focus sharply on the subject.
any idea why this should be happening? looking for a manual to service
the camera myself as i am a micro electronics engg. i can handle the
circuits

Re: Autofocus of Canon EOS stopped working

I'm not familiar with that model. How did you get the lens? As part of
a package? TThe lenses they sell as part of a package with the body
aren't great. I got a 35-105mm autofocus zoom when I bought my Canon A2
- a few years after purchase it also lost the ability to autofocus. And
they're not worth getting fixed. Buy a used lens from KEH.com.

Re: Autofocus of Canon EOS stopped working

So if you were a "heart" doctor, you would want to perform a heart
operation on yourself? If you had the how-to-do it book, of course.
Best bet is contact Canon and see if they offer to fix the camera.
(You will have less luck trying to get the service manual or the
parts.)

Re: Autofocus of Canon EOS stopped working

This happens when batteries are a little low. Of course, the first thing
I look for is the switch on the lens, but in your case if you are getting
some movement, so that ain't it. Have you tried another lens to isolate the
problem?
