Multiple images on one canvas

I want to have a number of images on one canvas.
Images are different sizes and some are landscape and some are portrait.
Each image will be sized so that they all eventually fit exactly within the
canvas size.
Adding the images to the canvas is not a problem, however, what is the
simplest method to then add a thin black border around each image. This
border will obviously appear irregular over the canvas as it borders each
different sized image.

Re: Multiple images on one canvas

Hi Again
Have been trying your suggestion but am not getting exactly what I need.
I have set-up a new canvas with the grid showing.
I want to add 6 or more different sized images to fall within the grid lines
to get a final poster-type look.
To separate each image I want to draw say 20px wide black lines along the
border of each image. This line will need to stop when it reaches another
image.
Using the stroke tool on each image before I copy them onto the new canvas
will mean each image will have a border that is not on the same line as the
image immediately beside it. I could locate the stroke on the "centre"
instead of inside or outside but I then get a rounded corner.
The look I am after could also be used to border images on a Composite Card.
An example of what I am after can be seen here

Only difference being that the images will be at different heights as well
as different widths.

Peter

The copy/paste layer style: In CS (Photoshop Version 8) you can create a
layer style, then control-drag it to another layer.

Re: Multiple images on one canvas

A cheap and dirty 'trick' to create the image layers:
Use File - Automate - Photomerge
Browse or use the folder option.
Let it fail to merge
Then you will be presented with thumbnails and a canvas
Drag the thumbnails where you wish them to be (this is the handy feature)
Click on the box, lower right [ ] layers
Done. You now have a canvas with each image on a separate layer.
Use Katwoman's tip on copy/paste layer style and be happy.
