Leica M lenses - digital readiness

Looks like the digital M (M8) is expected fairly soon and at an
anticipated $5k.

Re: Leica M lenses - digital readiness

Earth-shattering news.
What innovators. By the time that product hits the market Canon should
have a 20MP model for $2K. Leica is so slow, it takes their engineers
3 hours just to watch "60 Minutes."

In article <qmRhg.5503$ap3.1476@news-server.bigpond.net.au>,

I don't think so.
It's a Leica made camera without a lens. You put your Leica or Leica
mount lens onto it.
If the DMR quality is anything to go by, I would expect this M8 to sell
extremely well. Rumours I have heard are that it will be 10MP with a
1.3x crop factor. The marking of the lenses is apparently to provide the
camera with input as to what lens is currently mounted, which in turn
will instruct the electronics to adapt the image in-camera according to
a set of parameters.
