Replacement ink

Does anyone have any recommendations for compatible replacement ink
cartridges, esp.for Epson? The cost difference is so huge that I wonder if
the quality difference is always that great.
Cheers,
Bernard

Hi
I should have said in my previous post that newsgroups exist solely
dedicated to printers. Also I did not spell Arthur Entlich's name
correctly, sorry about that

Re: Replacement ink

Hi Bernard
The problem is of course that the inks cost of much as the printer. In
the Uk Jet Tec inks are highly regarded and are in fact the recommended
by the magazine Digital Photo Art, the best digital photography mag
available in the UK. CIS systems are now available for a very good
price. With an Epson you need to keep up your maintenance. Google for
Arthur Entclich who is the only real expert out there, also look at
Steve's Digicam for a simple mod that will help you. It shows how to
discharge the waste ink into a bottle rather than your ink pad.
Good luck

Re: Replacement ink

There really is no premium generic inks. The relabelers will not
disclose what they are selling you so you cannot track the performance
in the market. They are not consistent and they change their suppliers
as well so you cannot even tell if the batch you purchased a few months
ago is the same ink.
I do agree that OEM is overpriced and I wish that ink mfg like
Sensinent, :Lyson, and Pantone would make carts for all printers sold in
all venues under their own brand name so you could track performance and
sell them for about $5.00 a cart. If the ink is good this would bring
down the price of OEM ink but the printer prices may go up a little.
That would be OK.

Re: Replacement ink

Generic ink will fade and will also clog your printer. The relabelers
who sell generic inks will not disclose (for various reasons I do not
believe) who the mfg/relabeler is so it is virtually impossible to track
performance. That said I do think that OEM ink is price more than twice
as high as it should be.
I wish there were some generic mfg/formulators who would sell prefilled
carts under their own name and properly label them so users can track
performance for under $5.00 a carts.

Re: Replacement ink

I have purchased multiple times from http:\www.inkquik.com and the
stuff is perfect! I have purchased for my Epson Stylus 785EDPX and a HP
at the office and have recommended the to everyone I know. The stuff
I am printing is not "professional" but the results are quite acceptable
to me. I used to not let the kids print in color due to the cost, but
now the can print all day long for $5.00.

Re: Replacement ink

I am afraid to try the OFF brands, in terms off customers bringing back
faded prints, printer heads getting clogged, nullifies the warranty, it's
just not worth it to me. And I am a cheapskate but on this I don't
compromise, I just charge more for the prints.

You don't say what country you are posting from.
Here in the UK I have had very acceptable results in both Epson and
Cannon printers with replacement cartridges from Cartridge World and
have settled on them as my preferred supplier.
However, I wrote off an expensive Epson printer by using 'Ink Well'
brand carts in it.
The damned ink dried out in the heads and no amount of cleaning, even
eventually removing the heads and steam cleaning could sort the
machine out.

...
I have an Epson Photo printer, and I was a little wary about replacements -
but the OEM are so expensive I tried various replacements - I now use
Datasafe (can't easily find the website!!)
and Imjet http://www.imjet.com/main/index.php
Both of these inks are comparable to Epson quality but far, far, cheaper!!

Every magazine test I've ever seen has concluded that the bargain inks are
worth what you pay for them. Premium inks are a different matter and are at
least as good as OEM stuff.
