Summaron 35mm 1:2.8

Any user opinions on this lens? It's available at considerably less than
the current Summicron equivalents, but is it worth getting? Will I be
disappointed? I'm looking specifically for performance at max aperture.

Thanks Tony, much appreciated.
I picked up the lens this morning and the seller knocked off 33% of the
asking price because there is some fungus in it. Fortunately it isn't
very bad and I am sure a CLA will sort it out, no problems. He also gave
me an abundance of filters, including a B+W circular polariser, the
SBLOO finder and a Leica lenshood for this lens.
Apart from the minor fungus, the lens is in awesome shape cosmetically
(considering its probably older than I am!).

Re: Summaron 35mm 1:2.8

With the exception of the superlative Summicrons, the f/2.8 Summaron
is probably the best of all the 35mm Leica M lenses. As with the
pre-ASPH Summicrons, it performs best stopped down. Optimum
performance is at f/8.
Wide open, centre sharpness is good and the edges soft, and there is a
delightful, gradual transition between the two.
The 35mm f/2.8 Summaron is strongly in demand and prices are rising,
so now would be a good time to buy. Beware coating marks, especially
on the front element, fungus and misting which cannot always be cured
by cleaning. It is worth paying a little extra for one that has
recently been serviced, otherwise factor in the cost of a CLA.

I've been agonising over whether I should get this lens for ages now and
I finally decided I could no longer do without it when I was out
shooting moored yachts on Sunday with my M3 & M6.
Using a 50mm 'cron there was just no way I could fit an entire boat in
the frame, so obviously I had to get something wider. The price of 35mm
lenses from Leica is scary stuff, but luckily my friend offered me this
one at a reasonable price. I'll also get the SBLOO finder, caps, filter
and lenshood for about $450 all in.
I have been researching it all morning and it seems that it's very good
value for money. Decided to sell my F100 to make it happen.
