The Whales are friendly in Oz.

After looking at Scott W's whale tails I though back to when I shot some
whales on 35mm film with a borrowed EOS 3000 camera and Sigma "Super Zoom"
lens. I got a lot of tails too! I also got a lot pics of really curious and
friendly whales. They come up to the boat, bumping it and burping the
foulest of foul breath you can imagine.

It's winter here in Queensland (down to 18C - 64F last night) Bloody cold!
Anyway, the whales have arrived and it looks like this will be a bumper year
for getting together for a whale of time with them. If you happen to be in
Australia in the next few months, get on a boat and join 'em!
The Tangalooma flyer is taking tours. You can go from Hervey Bay or Brisbane
itself.

Re: The Whales are friendly in Oz.

so you don't want to admit you're a jerk? thats certainly what it
looks like as he isn't trying to win any whale arguments here. look on
the bright side you won the whale argument.

Re: The Whales are friendly in Oz.

pigs could sing like that we might eat a lot less of them.
Sure, if pigs knew what was good for them they would learn to sing.
They don't swim all that well and have a hard time holding their breath
for more then
a minute or so.
When I was in highschool I worked on a hog farm durning summers, I have
no problem eating ham.

Thank God for that. Now he'll think no one posts here any more!

Re: The Whales are friendly in Oz.

The main difference is that we can breed pigs.....In any quantities we want.
And feed them with food that is easily available to us. Neither of these
things applies to whales.

It's Kosha Mate!
If you studied and lived on Kosha food, maybe you get rid of some of
your agro.

Re: The Whales are friendly in Oz.

The carry diseases that in biblical times would have been
a valid reason to avoid eating them.
I don't have any idea where that came from.
No, whales are *not* fish.
Great distraction. I laughed for 3 minutes before I could
start this reply.

Re: The Whales are friendly in Oz.

So the lack of harmonious sound from a pig makes them suitable
for the table, while a whale is not?
That is absurd, but you are entitled to eat whatever you like.
Just keep in mind that *I* can eat what I like too, for whatever
equally silly reasons I might choose.
Why? I don't see a valid point. Lots of animals do a variety
of really complex things that strike me as having unique beauty.
Ever look into the social structure of an ant hill or a bee
hive? Astounding! But that doesn't mean they should be
protected species.
Why? Do you have any reason for suggesting it is otherwise?
I thought you said you'd been around pigs? They are *extremely*
intelligent, and can do a lot more than any Humpback whale.
The bottom line is that you *are* entitled to choose your own
food using your own set of prejudices. You are *not* entitle to
enforce restrictions on others though.

Re: The Whales are friendly in Oz.

And that is the sum total of your reasonable discussion of the topic.
An admission that you aren't able to discuss it from a point of knowledge.
So now here you go *again*... denying an ad hominem and
proceeding with exactly that!
Did you really think you could weasel that one past anyone with
half a brain engaged?
