Photoshop game question

I am involved in an online game that sometimes has Photoshopped images
with embedded clues.
Here is an example. This ISBN barcode was hidden in the dark clouds of
one image.

Is there any way to clean this up enough that I can scan it with some
Barcode Reader software that I downloaded. So far I can't get it clear
enough so that it is detectable by this software.

I would use Selective Color, adding white and removing red and blue from
the purple background. Also add black to the black (or are the neutral)
