Color of a rectangle, part 2

A question about "Replace color".
I do this:
- Create a red square and a black square.
- Flaten image
- Now do "Replace color"
1. change Red into Green. It works.
2. change black into Green. It does not work, but a grey
square is produced.
You will also get grey squares if you try to change white or
grey squares into another color using "Replace color".
It appears that Photoshop interprets black, white and greys
in a different way than "normal" colors, like red or green.
Is it possible to change this behaviour?
