Re: Portrait of the average American voter...

Yeah, that's why it was the closest re-election in history and went
down to the next day to see who won Ohio. Nice revisionist history,
Billy.

That's OK....I have one, but I have never had to shoot anyone....It's very
presence has kept me safe....Somehow, your attitude when you are carrying is
good enough to keep the crazies away.

Re: [OT] Re: Portrait of the average American voter...

I'll buy that...At least, that's logically possible. I don't happen to
believe it, because I am not a conspirationalist......(if you'll allow me to
coin a new word) I seriously doubt that either Chaney, Rummy, or Powell/Rice
are either evil or have made any money off of Bush's Iraqi invasion. So your
theory just doesn't wash with me.....Sorry......I'm sure you'll try again,
however......I'd be much more willing to believe that Bush was angry at
Saddam for making a fool out of his (Bush's) father, and so he pushed for
the Iraqi invasion for that reason.....But, in the long run, he didn't have
any way to really control the evidence as presented to the cabinet and/or
the state department....Presidents just don't have that much power. So, I
really think he and they were all suckered into believing in the WMD's
mostly because Saddam himself tried to convince everyone that he had them.
(He wanted Iran to believe it) And, much to his surprise, he was successful!
(I bet he wishes now that he hadn't done it)

BTW...
Which is worse...
-A generic commentary on American voters of BOTH political persuasions via a
photo of a gorilla...
....or your personalized insults hurled at me?
You, sir, are a pot--even more black than my kettle.
Heck, you're as black as that little furry guy in my pic!

Re: Portrait of the average American voter...

Hey! - If you don't like him, there is a constitutional method for getting
rid of him....It's called the "vote". The people went to the polls in 2004,
and voted him back in by a resounding majority....I trust you voted then.
Sorry it didn't work out. I voted Republican the other day, and it didn't
work out for me, either. But I don't want to trash the whole system because
of it, and you shouldn't either. Now, why don't you just be a good little
boy, and wait for 2008, when you can go to the polls and vote 100%
Democratic for whoever is running then? And, if that isn't good enough for
you, you can go to some South American country where they routinely hang
whoever they don't like, and leave us constitution lovers to our own
methods.....

But you are the only one on the block who has used a gun.
(This is a cheap shot but it is late and my inhibitors are failing)

Re: [OT] Re: Portrait of the average American voter...

Ok, how's about "He's a clueless simpleton who was used as a front man
by evil geniuses."? I note the neocons who made war attractive to him
are now distancing themselves at a very rapid pace. Bush has done his
part and may now be thrown aside.
What will the US do now that their President hasn't spoken directly to
God for MONTHS? Perhaps I misunderestimate him.

Not only incompetent but unspeakably arrogant.
Consider Dubya's actions in the three days since
the election:
1. Admitted with a straight face that he lied about Rummy.
Last week he told us Rummy was here to stay. The day
after the election he said, no not really. I "had" to say that.
2. Replaced Rummy with Robert Gray, a Bush family
"fixer" and a man who was nearly indicted in the Iran-
Contra scandals. A man with a record of sucking up
to power and bending the intelligence to match the
executive's whim. IOW, he offers us a Rummy clone.
3. Despite talk of "bipartisanship," sent John Bolton's
nomination to Congress for a third time, knowing full
well that Bolton is loathed by *all* Democrats and a
good number of Republicans as well. Twice on
prior occasions, a *Republican-controlled* Congress
has failed to nominate Bolton, and so Dubya, in
typical contempt for any restraints on his power
and privelege, appointed Bolten in recess. He's
currently exploring other ways to circumvent the
confirmation process.

Re: Portrait of the average American voter...

The buck stops with him, always. Those around Bush were schooled
by the Nixon experience, and we know that these days when nefarious
deeds are to originate in the West Wing, it's useful for the boss
not to (be seen to) hear. [e.g. the astonishing crime to come out
of the West Wing, that a covert agent's cover was deliberately blown
over the Niger incident. Nixon had a "plumber's" operation to stop
leaks, but a few burglers was nothing compared to this.]
No, the President is the head of them all.
He is head of the forces, and the CIA reports to him. When he makes a
speech which sends the country to war, invades another nation, condemns
100,000+ people to die, and costs the world $1,000,000,000,000, the
onus is on him to make sure he's not talking a load of crap when he
spouts reasons for doing it.
If he is merely incompetent, as you imply, it is all the more reason
that he should be immediately impeached.

That's why I like voting here in Oregon....All the ballots are mail-in. Your
mail drop box is your ballot box.....
