Are flat screen LCD monitors ready?

I've been using a LaCie CRT monitor for my Photoshop work. Until now, I've
understood that LCD screens didn't have the depth necessary for good color
work. I'd like to hear some opinions on this subject - in preparation for
purchasing my next monitor. Thanks.........

Re: Are flat screen LCD monitors ready?

Yes, I know RawShooter is now an Adobe product. Nisko questioned if
RawShooter is available made by Corel. Corel did not make RawShooter, but
has been offering it with Paintshop Pro X, as indicated in the URL that I
provided. Now that Adobe acquired Pixmantec, I have to wonder if Adobe will
honor any existing Pixmantec agreements with Corel and support RawShooter;
or will Adobe push these users towards Adobe Lightroom 1.0.

Re: Are flat screen LCD monitors ready?

I am afraid that your information is way out of date. Viewing angles have
improved massively of the last year or two.
Also they do not depend on the 25KV which will emit xrays and generally is good
for distant viewing, like from an armchair but not close up, as in front of your
face.

Re: Are flat screen LCD monitors ready?

GET A CRT
The resolution on the Sony Multiscan 400PS which I rely upon for my
work is far superior to any LCD I've seen.
Further, CRTs are much better in daylit rooms, have a larger viewing
angle, last longer, and I hear and read, are less poluting to the ol'
envoronment.
I'm an erstwhile major agency art director and heavy Corel Painter
user. Now I'm just another frustrated editorial cartoonist, for what
it's worth.

Thanks...I already have it installed (even though I use a CRT).

When my son came out to see me recently he was disgusted at the old CRT and

Re: Are flat screen LCD monitors ready?

I have an HP L1925 and a Viewmaster 1024*768. I don't like the Viewmaster much.
It is not very sharp and I don't think the colour resolution is as good, but the
smaller size is handy for verifying web pages. I use the HP as my main monitor,
and find it excellent. The colour rendition seems to me to be very good (but I
am partially colourblind).
CRTs are all very well, provided you have half an acre of spare desk space and a
very strong back -- or a slave!
