Shooting with motion picture camera lenses?

Hey Group,
I came across a lens that is typically designed to be used for motion
picture photography but I was wondering if it could be used for 35mm
still photography.
The lens I'm looking at trying to find is a Century West 6.9mm lens.
Could this be a cheap alternative to super expensive wide angle glass?
Info on the lens is here:

I have more time than money so if these things come up on ebay for $100
or so should I grab one or would it not work?
Thanks for the advice?
SW

Especially as it seems to be a 'C' mount lens for 16mm...

scotty.welton@yahoo.com says...
Movie frames are half the width of 35mm still film. The lens won't
cover properly.

OK....According to your URL, this lens is for 16 mm video sensors, so it
wouldn't be useful on 35 mm stuff....It would vignette badly. - It might be
used on digital cameras though.....It depends on the sensor size of the
camera....and whether adapters are available.....

Are you sure you don't mean 6.9 cm, or 69 mm?
